Autumn in Maastricht
|
Taken in Stad Park (literally, "City Park") looking toward one end of their still standing Medieval wall. The city of Maastricht goes back to the days of the Romans when it was called, "Mosae Trajectum". Since it's founding, it's been the scene of many battles due to it's strategic location for trade routes. The most recent battles were fought during World War II. The townspeople hid in nearby man-made caves originally carved out by the Romans who used the Marlstone for building.
